VISUAL ARTS AND HISTORY OF ART
This department trains professionals in the fields of artistic creation and the language of the visual arts. The programme develops the student's specific skills in the language codes of the visual arts at the practical and critical theory levels. The formative activity focuses particularly on maturation in the creation of works articulated both in their methodological and conceptual dimension and in the operative dimension.
Particular attention in the training of the students is given to an approach based on an in-depth knowledge of the theories, materials and technological equipment of art, with the relative contaminations in Africa and in the world. Students are educated to look and perceive, to explore and critique new conceptual and plastic territories and to experiment. They are also led to propose new codes of artistic expression that are the object of creative, philosophical, psychological, sociological, anthropological, economic, political, heritage, etc. issues.
Through the practical and theoretical courses in art theory and practice, students in this department acquire both a mastery of the technical means of artistic expression centred on drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, etc. and a perfect knowledge of the methods of critical analysis, interpretation and valorisation of works of art.
